Local GDP Slips

Santa Cruz is feeling the recession. Numbers released yesterday by the by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis show that the county’s per capita GDP was $32,887, down from $33,674 in 2006. The total GDP for 2008 was $8.325 million. The two industries hit the hardest were construction and trade, both of which dropped by more of a percentage point. Read More at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
