One of the worst traffic bottlenecks in Santa Cruz County may soon be a thing of the past. Transportation planners completed a 545-page study that determines that there would be no permanent environmental problems caused by widening Highway 1 to six lanes between Morrissey Boulevard and Soquel Avenue. According to the report, any damage caused by the widening of the highway could be remedied easily.

With the environmental report completed, the $22 million project can begin as planned in 2011. It is expected to be completed in 2013. Read more at Santa Cruz Sentinel.
