Federal Grant Aims at Curbing Teenage Drinking

Santa Cruz County’s Office of Education was awarded a $1.3 million grant to curb the incidence of teenage alcoholism. The three-year grant was made available by the Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools. In addition to educational programs in the community and in schools, it will also be used to cover costs of individual and group treatment and counseling and to involve parents in teenage drinking prevention programs. In addition to local schools, funding will be distributed to the Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center and the Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency. Read More at the Santa Cruz Sentinel
